The Gateway Conference - Promoting Participation in Medicine
Conference Details
Although the deadline for registering for a place at the conference was 15th January 2008, we have received a few last minute cancellations. Therefore if you are still interested in attending the conference, please contact us as soon as possible and we may be able to offer you a place.
On the 25th and 26th January 2008 Leeds Widening Access to Medical Schools (WAMS) Scheme will be hosting the national Gateway Conference: Promoting Participation in Medicine. We believe this will be one of the first national conferences of its kind aimed at bringing together all individuals involved in widening participation in medicine, including:
- Medical students already coordinating widening access schemes
- Medical students wishing to set up widening access schemes
- Widening participation officers in medicine
- Clinical staff with an interest in widening participation
The conference will consist of a range of activities including interactive workshops, talks from key note speakers and poster presentations. Throughout the conference we will cover a range of topics such as how to set up a scheme, gaining funding, evaluation, and common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
The conference is funded by the Sutton Trust.
We envisage that the conference will provide an excellent forum for individuals from all over the United Kingdom to come together and share ideas, experience and inspiration on how best to encourage students from a wide range of backgrounds to consider a career in medicine.
